The Howard County Sheriff's Office is offering a FREE basic self defense class for women. The course teaches the RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) System, a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. This RAD system is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance, while processing the basics of hand on defense training. RAD is not a martial arts program. Courses are taught by certified RAD instructors and provide you with a reference manual that outlines the entire physical defense program for reference and personal growth. The RAD system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. The system will provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. Any female that is fourteen years of age and older can attend this course. Anyone under the age of eighteen will be required to have a parent or guardian complete and sign the waiver.
