UPDATED CONSTRUCTION ALERT 9-24-19
The highway construction project on US Highway 87 (Gregg Street) at the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass has a new approved work start date. On Monday, October 14, 2019, the TxDOT contractor is scheduled to begin placing traffic control devices on the project.
Phase 1 of the construction project will involve reducing the number of travel lanes from four to two lanes (one lane in each travel direction) on the east (northbound) side of the bridge, while the west (southbound) side of the bridge deck is removed and replaced with a new concrete driving surface.
Phase 2 work will place the two travel lanes on the west (southbound) half of the bridge, while the east (northbound) half of the bridge deck is removed and replaced. For each of these phases, traffic control devices will be placed approximately two blocks on each end of the bridge to transition traffic movement into one traffic lane in each direction. The construction project work length is estimated to be eleven months.
