[ARCHIVED] City Staff to Deliver CDBG Surveys to Residents

we-need-you-

PRESS RELEASE JANUARY 17, 2019

For Immediate Release.  For more information contact Todd Darden, City Manager, at 432-264-2401.

The City of Big Spring is applying for funding through the Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.  The primary objective of the program is to develop viable communities by providing funds which the City of Big Spring intends to use for replacement of aging water lines in the city.

The grant application requires the completion of a community survey.  Letters and blank surveys were sent out, but we still lack many responses.  As of now, at least 55 more surveys must be completed by January 31st in order meet the required 80% response rate and submit the grant application on time.  There are several addresses we attempted to survey but were unable to gain a response from.  These addresses are in the following areas:

100 to 200 block of East 13th Street

100 block of East 15th Street

100 to 500 block of East 16th Street

1100 to 1500 block of Austin Street

1100 to 1700 block of Runnels Street

Completed surveys from residents at these addresses is crucial to the application’s completion. Code Enforcement employees will begin delivering surveys to these addresses on January 17th through Saturday, January 19th.  If no one is home at the residence, the survey will be left on the door.  We ask residents to look for the envelope and return the completed survey to City Hall as soon as possible.

Residents can return completed surveys by mail using the self-addressed, stamped envelope provided or hand deliver them to City Hall Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.  You can also arrange to have your completed survey picked up by calling City Hall at 264-2347.

Feel free to contact the Assistant City Manager’s office at 432-264-2345, with any questions or concerns.  We appreciate the community’s cooperation in this matter.
