Animal Control Penalties

Any person violating any prohibition, requirement, duty or provision of the Animal Ordinances shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed $2,000 provided that the violation is a violation of a provision governing fire safety, zoning, or public health and sanitation. If the violation does not govern fire safety zoning or public health and sanitation, the fine shall not exceed $500. If any violation is continuing, each day's violation shall be deemed a separate offense. If any person is found guilty of cruelty to any animal under municipal, state or federal law, his permit to own, keep or harbor or have custody of such animal shall be deemed automatically revoked and no new permit of license may be issued.
